I am a Course Coordinator: How much should I pay Faculty?
There is no set price for their compensation. Some individuals volunteer their services. A few choose to receive a small honorarium. For more guidance, see the PEPP Instructor Resources Kit.
I am a Course Coordinator. How much should I charge for the PEPP course?
The AAP does not charge instructors to conduct PEPP courses; therefore, we do not mandate or make recommendations for what to charge for courses, as each case is different. Due to several factors, the overall cost to implement a PEPP course can vary. For example, the course is mostly equipment based. Since medical equipment is expensive, instructors are not expected to purchase ALL of the materials. Rather, some instructors borrow various equipment from other agencies.
I am a Course Coordinator. Why can’t I access the Instructors Area of the website?
The system may state that you no longer have Course Coordinator privileges. It is possible that you did not meet the CC renewal requirements by teaching 2 PEPP courses in the 2-year renewal period. If you believe that this is incorrect, please email [email protected] with the course dates and, if applicable, the names of the Course Coordinators that you assisted (if you acted as Faculty). A member of the AAP staff can then assist you in correcting the record.
I am a healthcare provider. How do I receive a Course Completion Certificate?
Providers who successfully meet the following requirements are eligible to receive a PEPP Course Completion Certificate.
- Participate in the complete PEPP course taught by a PEPP Course Coordinator.
- Complete the precourse work.
- Pass the final examination.
The Course Completion Certificate is emailed directly to each Provider and is valid for 2 years.
I am a PEPP CC who assisted with a course. Why haven’t I received credit for teaching the course?
Possible reasons may include:
- The roster entered is only saved in the database and not yet submitted to us. Please login to the PEPP website and go through the submission process.
- The lead PEPP CC responsible for submitting the roster may not have done so yet.
- Another individual who submitted the roster for the lead CC inadvertently left the person’s name off the roster.
- The roster may have been initially rejected, and the CC did not re-submit it with the required changes. Contact the lead CC to check status of the roster.
- The roster was submitted, but the email address for the Faculty was added incorrectly.
To find out more, contact us. Please include the course date and name of the lead CC in your message.

What are Simulation Resources?
Simulation training affords the opportunity for realistic, interactive educational experiences, while simultaneously fostering healthcare team communication and improving patient care. The Academy, in an alliance with Laerdal Medical, has developed high and low fidelity pediatric simulators and scenarios that complement the learning objectives of pediatric life support curriculum and help improve technique, communication and team work skills. With the advent of advanced simulator technology, physicians can now become competent performing procedures they would otherwise rarely encounter, such as umbilical vein catheterization, or needle decompression of a tension pneumothorax. Thereby, errors in technique or judgment become teachable moments rather than incidents of patient morbidity and mortality.

What is a PEPP Instructor?
The term “PEPP Instructor” may refer to a PEPP Instructor or to a PEPP Course Coordinator. All Course Coordinators are Instructors, but not all Instructors are Course Coordinators.
PEPP Instructors do not have a record in the PEPP database, nor can they coordinate a course of their own. They are valued PEPP Faculty who are assisting a Course Coordinator in the instruction of a course.
Only Course Coordinators are qualified to instruct, offer, and run the PEPP Course. If you are a Course Coordinator, avoid confusion: Never list yourself as also being an “Instructor.” As a CC, it is understood that you are present and active in the instruction of each course you coordinate. There is no need to list yourself twice on a roster.
What is an access code, and why do I need it?
All PEPP Providers must redeem an access code in order to complete the required precourse work for their PEPP course.
- The code functions like a gift certificate: it’s good for one copy of the online resources, including the pretest and modules.
- You can locate the code within the inside cover of your new PEPP textbook or purchase the code individually.
- To redeem the code, visit the JBLearning access code page and follow the instructions to enter or paste the 10-digit code.
Once you complete the requested information, a new account is created with a personalized email address and password. You can then use these credentials to access your resources by visiting the JBLearning login page and logging in as a returning user. You’ll no longer need the access code, and you cannot reuse it or pass it on.
