Understand PEPP Course Offerings
PEPP is a comprehensive, innovative, and highly visual course featuring case-based lectures, live-action video, hands-on skills stations, and small group scenarios. When planning courses and advising prospective participants, keep these course guidelines and requirements in mind.
Onsite BLS Format
- Requires full onsite attendance.
- Online precourse work and a short pretest.
- 1-day/9.25 onsite hours of instruction, hands-on practice, instructor interaction, and final exam.
- Entitles you to a Course Completion Certificate, valid for 2 years.
- Qualifies you for 8.25 CAPCE credits.

Hybrid BLS Format
- Combines online study + onsite attendance.
- 10.25 hours of self-directed online modules and short exam.
- 5.5 onsite hours of hands-on practice, instructor interaction, and final exam.
- Entitles you to a Course Completion Certificate, valid for 2 years.
- Qualifies you for 15.00 CAPCE credits.

Onsite ALS Format
- Requires full onsite attendance.
- Online precourse work and a short pretest.
- 2-day/16 onsite hours of instruction, hands-on practice, instructor interaction, and final exam.
- Entitles you to a Course Completion Certificate, valid for 2 years.
- Qualifies you for 13 CAPCE credits.

Hybrid ALS Format
- Combines online study + onsite attendance.
- 11.75 hours of self-directed online modules and short exam.
- 8 onsite hours of hands-on practice, instructor interaction, and final exam.
- Entitles you to a Course Completion Certificate, valid for 2 years.
- Qualifies you for 18.75 CAPCE credits.

Course Coordinator Requirements
To qualify as a Course Coordinator, you must:
- Be a physician (MD or DO), registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, paramedic, or EMT.
- Have EMT teaching experience OR experience in coordinating another nationally recognized standardized course for teaching prehospital personnel.
- Successfully complete the PEPP provider course at the level for which you wish to conduct courses (BLS or ALS).
- Submit an online application to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
- After approval from the AAP, complete the online PEPP Course Coordinator orientation.
- Be knowledgeable of the most current PEPP Course material and administrative policies.
- To maintain your status, you must be involved in teaching at least two PEPP courses, either as a Course Coordinator or as Faculty, within the active 2-year period following your PEPP Course Coordinator activation.
Course Coordinator Responsibilities
To serve as a Course Coordinator, you must:
- Maintain the integrity of the program.
- Select appropriate faculty and a PEPP medical advisor.
- Coordinate logistical issues.
- Manage the course budget.
- Address educational principles within the structure of the course.
- Be present and supervise all aspects of the course.
- Register upcoming PEPP courses on www.peppsite.com.
- Submit completed course rosters to the AAP.
- Ensure participant course evaluations are completed.
- Ensure the safety of participants.
